REFERRALS
With the help from ReachOut USA, LGBT individuals, or those living with a disability or illness and their partners or families have a network to turn to in order to have full understanding of programs and services. This allows them to properly apply for often complicated and confusing programs such as private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid, Social Security, home and community based services, and prescription programs.
When a person with a disability or illness needs assistance, we work with them and the social services agency or independent living center in their community that has gone through ReachOut USA’s trainings and has partnered with ReachOut USA. In this way, we know that we are referring them to an agency or organization that will treat them with respect. ReachOut USA continues to monitor and track the individual’s needs and help them as they need and request it. ReachOut USA also makes sure that the person has a support network in place that they can turn to for emotional support by encouraging them to join a ReachOut USA community peer support group or joining the online support community.
